Holly Simmonds
About me
At The Wave Clinic, my home-based practice in West Sussex, I offer a safe, confidential, and compassionate space for adults, couples, young people and supervisees to explore their experiences and work toward healing and growth.
My approach is embedded in trauma awareness and humanistic values, whilst my work is guided by the understanding that trauma, early childhood development and the experiences we have accumulated over many years, can shape not only how people experience themselves and others, but also how they connect, trust, and communicate. This understanding extends into my supervisory relationships, where I aim to create a space that feels both safe and gently challenging — one where supervisees can reflect honestly, think creatively, and deepen their confidence.
As a UKCP-registered Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapist, Counsellor, and Advanced Transactional Analysis Practitioner, I draw on a range of therapeutic perspectives while holding at the centre an empathic, relational, and collaborative stance.
Over the years, I have worked with people experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, ADHD, autism, depression, menopausal transitions, attachment and developmental wounds, trauma and PTSD, self-harm, eating disorders, bereavement, addiction, and the complex effects and impact of chronic health conditions such as M.E. and CFS.
I have a particular passion for supporting clients and supervisees navigating the effects of early adversity, complex trauma, and health-related challenges. My philosophy centres on compassion, curiosity, and co-regulation — recognising that supervision, like therapy, can be a reparative and transformative space for both practitioner and client.
We are all human and although our minds and bodies want to work the right way for us, the balance can easily go array in today’s busy world and we can lose sight of where we are in our lives.
- As a compassionate and emphathic therapist, I will work with you, metaphorically walking beside you, using my experience and clinical knowledge in Counselling and Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy. I will help you become more aware of what thoughts, feelings, beliefs and behaviours are impacting you in your life.
- I offer an open-minded, nonjudgmental space for you to discover why you have reached this point in your life. We will discuss your therapeutic choices, the length of therapy you are considering and how we will work together to help you move towards any changes you would like to make.
- Ensuring your therapy is tailored to your needs, I hope to create a safe and confidential environment where I will work alongside you with my therapeutic approaches and interventions, guiding you through your journey to a greater understanding of yourself.
I am a UKCP-registered Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapist, able to provide the additional capacity of referring to a network of contacts and colleagues, ensuring you get the help that is right for you.
